The First Day of a New Life

This is most likely my last post before leaving for my summer holidays. InshaAllah.

Well, the topic is a small dialogue I stole from a movie I watched a couple of days ago. Not one that I would recommend someone to watch (so I wont mention the name). But it had a nice dramatic ending to it!

It was about a man Mr. X, who had a miserable life, because both his wife Mrs. X and his daughter X jr. found him an embarassment to be associated with. They keep focusing on how Mr X is a big time loser. Also Mr X is always treated like a door-mat. One fine day, Mr X snaps out of it, and decides to be the 'man of the house' once again. He goes off on a spree. Forcing authority over his wife and daughter (making their lives hell). This was apparently his 'new life'. However, it was the very same day that he fixed everything, he was destined to die. He was shot in the head. There was a sequence of events though, just before he dies which leads his thoughts into the past and his family.

The final one minute after he was shot, was what all the drama was about. Where he watches his life flash by him. He thinks of what a lucky man he was. He had a beautiful wife and a lovely daughter. He thinks back to the happy days, and how blessed he was, yet failed to see it all until it was too late. Same happens to the wife. She realizes her loss when her husband dies. She regrets what she had done to him - but it was too late.

Makes you think how some of the very few sorrows or tragedies in life makes you forget your blessings. Keep counting your blessings before throwing them out. All of us happen to sulk or even go into severe depression over something very small that happens in our life. In the meanwhile, we tend to forget any good that has ever crossed our path, and go on to cursing this 'miserable life'. Automatically, leading on to suicide. Its hard to smile through your troubles. But keeping your spirits up at the hard times, has always helped me!

A second point to make, that wasnt in the movie, was regards to thanking Allah for your blessings. Rather than turning to him only in your hardships. Its a natural tendency of every man. Very few actually remember to thank him during the happy times. Just putting up a reminder.

The End.
